I Lokenath Bhattacherjee, secretary of a youth cultural winns KOMAL GANDHAR. KOMAL GANDHAR was formed and they began to demand and fight for their rights. They felt a need to begin and develop a cultural wing through which they could express their feelings by performing various types
ReplyDeleteof drama,dance and music.They also tried to reach out to a wider audience with their messages and demanded for worker's rights.
KOMAL GANDHAR the cultural wing of the movement was built up by their grass root efforts.
The members are responsible for the culture activities which are one of the most effective ways of awareness rising.
It has performed internationally as example in Geneva and nationally in many places. Its cultural acts are well acknowledge and recognized.In 1998 Komal gandhar was chosen as the only team among 72 countries to perform in the inaugural ceremony of the 12th international AIDS conference held in Geneva,Switzerland.not only in abroad but olso in thier own country.In Kolkata they perform their drama'Bhalo Manush Noi Go Mora' in drama festival,1998.Komal Gandhar was invited in various compition which was organised by 'GURIA' a well¬-known Varanashi-based organisation and won the 1st prize competing with troupes from various parts of India.in September 2002 Komal Gandhar participated in a programme in New Delhi which was organised by UNDP.The participance of Komal Gandhar captivated the audience by their dance drama 'I AM THAT WOMAN'.from the begining of Komal Gandhar they performed their artistic performences in different states of India,such as Nepal, Delhi, Mumbay, Kerala,Mysore, Hyderabad and also in the different districts of West Bengal.
This wing is interested to take a great challenge with the people of society to spread their talents and also try to intervent of HIV/AIDS
